“5th National Conference of Society of Clinical Anatomists organized at SSGR Institute of Medical Sciences

PPN0904201621Amritsar, April 9 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Sri Guru Ram Das Institute of Medical Sciences & Research, Vallah, Amritsar organized the two days “5th National Conference of Society of Clinical Anatomists (SOCA) .” The conference was attended by a galaxy of teachers and eminent stalwarts from all the fields of medical sciences. The conference was inaugurated by S. Jasdeep Singh (Senior Superintendent of Police, Amritsar Rural ) as chief guest, Inaugurating the conference Sh. S. Jasdeep Singh appreciated the role of doctors in serving the ailing humanity and he said that Conferences are the means in which professional from the diverse specialties got the opportunity to discuss and share their knowledge at interdisciplinary forum. While showering effusive praise on the organizers for taking up the Role of Anatomy in Clinical Practice as theme of the conference, he lauded the efforts of management of SGRD for maintaining  high standards of  such academic activities. Chief Patron S Joginder Singh, Secretary, Sri Guru Ram Das Charitable Hospital Trust, Sri Amritsar highlighted the role of conferences and seminars in raising the standard of medical education and assured his support in all such endeavours. Dr. A.P Singh, Additional Secretary Sri Guru Ram Das Charitable Hospital Trust, Sri Amritsar threw light on ultramodern treatment facilities being provided by the hospital to the patients especially those suffering from cancer. The Organizing Chairperson of the conference, Dr Geeta Sharma, Director-Principal Sri Guru Ram Das Institute of Medical Sciences & Research, Vallah, Amritsar in her welcome address highlighted the importance of hosting  National level conference.  Dr. Anupama Mahajan (Organising Secretary) gave an overview of the conference and highlighted that Anatomy is the foundation of all clinical subjects. Inspite of being the foundation of all branches of medicine, Anatomy has traditionally been considered a dry subject by medical Fraternity. However with increasing emphasis on its clinical and Applied Aspects, Anatomy is fast gaining its well deserved place among the comity of medical subspecialities and Clinical anatomists are emerging as a group of elite and oft sought after Medicos. The event had participation of eminent experts in all the fields of Medical Science in addition to S. Rajinder Singh Ji Mehta, Member Trust, S. Joginder Singh , Secretary, Dr. A.P Singh, Additional Secretary, Dr. Geeta Sharma, Director-Principal, Dr. Anupama Mahajan, Prof. & Head Anatomy, Dr. Anterpreet Arora, Dr. Punita Salwan  Dr. WMS Johnson, Prof Anatomy Shri Balaji Medical College, Chennai, Dr. Gunapriya Raghunath , Prof. & Head, Saveetha Institute of Medical Sciences, Chennai, Dr. Daksha Dixit,  Dr. D. Ravichadran, Dr. Gaurav Agnihotri, Dr. M. Kavimani  along with other expert medical professionals. More than 500 delegates including stalwarts of Anatomy from various medical colleges of  India (23 States & 2 Union territories) deliberated upon the clinical and Applied aspects of Anatomy . More than 100 research papers covering different aspects of Anatomy highlighted the widening horizons of the subject.
