Navjot Kaur Sidhu should introspect her actions before pointing fingers at Bikram Majithia

Amritsar,  May 19 (Punjab Post Bureau) Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) legislators from the Majha region today appealed to Amritsar East legislator and BJP chief parliamentary secretary Navjot Kaur Sidhu to introspect on her actions before pointing fingers at senior leader and Revenue minister Bikram Singh Majithia.Terming the BJP leader’s recent outburst against Mr. Majithia as a case of the pot calling the kettle black, the legislators – Harmeet Sandhu, Virsa Singh Valtoha, Manjit Singh Manna and Baljit Singh Jalalusma said the fact of the matter was that it was Mrs Sidhu who had disowned the coalition dharma by airing her grudges in the media instead of party forums.

The leaders said they were surprised and shocked at the phenomenal lead of 32,000 plus votes taken by Congress candidate Capt Amarinder Singh from Amritsar East, the seat held by Mrs Sidhu. They said the BJP leader on her part should explain to the people of Amritsar whether the huge defeat suffered by Mr Jaitely from her constituency was a barometer of her popularity graph among the people or a result of some mischief to ensure Mr Jaitely’s defeat as well as embarrass the SAD-BJP coalition. “This needs to be analyzed as Mr Jaitely is the political guru of Mrs Sidhu’s husband Navjot Sidhu”, they said.Asserting that the chief parliamentary secretary was letting her personal pique at her husband Navjot Sidhu being denied the party nomination get the better of her, the SAD legislators urged Mrs Sidhu to consider that it was the party which had made her what she was and that she should not commit any act which could be construed as a betrayal of the party. “You may have a grouse against anyone but you knew that it was Mr Arun Jaitely from your own party who was contesting the elections. It is unfortunate that you failed to present a united front against the enemy”, they added. The leaders also urged Mrs Sidhu not to make excuses and try to pin the defeat on akali councillors saying “the SAD-BJP combine as well as party candidate Arun Jaitely gave you a free hand in the constituency to ensure you could deliver. If you have failed to do so it is completely your fault and it does not behove you as a chief parliamentary secretary to pass on the buck to junior party workers”.Speaking about Mr Bikram Majithia’s role in the parliamentary campaign, the leaders said the former not only maintained his base and delivered in his assembly segment vis a vis the last two Lok Sabha polls which incidentally were contested by Mr Navjot Sidhu on the BJP ticket, but even increased the victory margin from Majitha this time to around 21,000 votes vis a vis a lead of 16,000 and 20,000 given by him in the 2007 and 2009 parliamentary elections.Urging Mrs Sidhu to introspect her actions, the leaders humbly submitted that this was not the first time that Mrs Sidhu had displayed such irrational behavior and come out with intemperate statements. “She has given a go by to the principle of joint responsibility in governance earlier also and has been at logger heads with her senior colleagues in the BJP. We on our part appeal to her to set aside her personal pique and follow coalition dharma. “It is best to introspect and analyze the entire issue threadbare in an appropriate party forum rather than going to town with statements made for personal considerations alone. If this is done everything will fall into place. The party and the coalition are bigger than all other considerations”, they added. EOM
