Amritsar, August 1 (Punjab Post Bureau)- The historic Khalsa College Campus has got new Administrative Block and more-than-a-century-old Sundar Singh Majithia hall here renovated with an extra `heritage touch’. The new block has been built with worth Rs. 5 crore by adhering to the traditional architectural style of the main iconic building of 1892 built Khalsa College, claimed the authorities, saying that more than a-century-old Hall where a number of Bollywood blockbusters including `Veerzara’ and `Rab Ne Bana Di Jori’ and Punjabi movies were, has been renovated in original texture and style.
The building of the Block and renovation of the Hall was inaugurated by Khalsa College Governing Council President Satyajit Singh Majithia in presence of the other office bearers of the management and Principals. He said the multi story Administrative Block will house the College administration separately from the academic buildings which are run from the 125 year old historic building.
Though the traditional outside look of the building has been maintained, the inside the buildings offer the ultra modern facilities and amenities as per the new requirements of the office administration, said authorities. Majithia who was accompanied by honourary secretary Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina and vice president Charanjit Singh Chadha and other colleagues said that the new facilities were in demand for long and the work on both the projects had been completed within a record time.
Principal Dr.Mehal Singh said that the new block was required seeing the new courses, new faculties and to offer single window assistance to thousands of students seeking administration and to run day to day administration.
Others present during the inauguration included KCGC Rector lakhbir Singh Lodhinangal, additional hounorary secretary Swinder Singh Kathunangal, finance secretary Gunbir Singh, Nirmal Singh, Ajmer Singh Heir, SS Mannan, Rajbir Singh, Principals of various Khalsa institutions.
