Dr. Mehal Singh joins as new Principal of Khalsa College

Amritsar, June 23 ( Dharmender Rataul)-  Noted Punjabi scholar Dr. Mehal Singh today joined as new Principal of historic Khalsa College Amritsar (KCA) amid congratulations that poured in from all around. He took charge from outgoing Principal Dr.Daljit Singh in presence of senior college management including Khalsa College Governing Council (KCGC) honourary secretary Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina and Vice President Charanjit Singh Chadha. He vowed to work hard to take 122-year-old institution to the newer heights. Dr. Mehal Singh was appointed following rigorous interview by panel of Selection Committee, having experts from Guru Nanak Dev University and DPI, Punjab Government that met here on June 14 under the chairmanship of KCGC President Satyajit Singh Majithia. Having done his Ph.D., Dr.Mehal Singh is MA in Punjabi and has 16 years of long working experience as Principal of various Colleges. He was till today serving as Principal of Guru Nanak Dev University College, Verka and has served as Principal of Guru Gobind Singh Khalsa College, Sarhali. S. Chhina, Chadha and other members congratulated him on getting the new responsibility and hoped that he would work to the betterment of College administration and its academic environment. He was garlanded and offered sweets and stated that his priority would be working as a team and to take the College which had recently been declared as an autonomous institution by University Grants Commission (UGC) to achieve the ideals of its founding fathers in 1892.

  Dr. Mehal Singh also thanked the management for imposing faith in him and said he was feeling proud to head the historic premium educational institution. He said the College will start various new courses from the current academic year.
