Amritsar, 7 November (Punjab Post Bureau) – S. Jaswant Rai Memorial Lectureship Award 2019 was organized by the department of Zoology of Guru Nanak Dev University.
Dr. Ashwani Kumar, Director , ICMR Vector Control Research Center, Pondicherry, delivered the award lecture on use of proteogenomic and transcriptomic approaches for understanding the molecular basis of malaria. He highlighted the use of LCMS-MS for analysis and separation of peptides for parasite and Vector interactions.
Dr. Jaspal Singh Sandhu, Vice-Chancellor presided over the function and highlighted the importance of self hygiene and clear environment for controlling the spread of Vector borne diseases like malaria, dengue and chikungunya. He motivated the students to use bicycles on the campus to reduce the vehicular carbon load.
Earlier, Dr. Satwinder Kaur, Head, department of Zoology welcomed the guests and highlighted the benefits of such invited talks for the students. Dr. Avinash Kaur Nagpal, nodal officer for S. Jaswant Rai Memorial Lecture, highlighted various academic activities carried out by the trust.
