DAV Student’s Utsav and Rahul bagged Award in 8th National Science Film Festival

Amritsar, Mar. 5 (Punjab Post Bureau)Utsav Arora and Rahul, Students of BDMM DAV College PPN0503201806bagged a bronze medal for making a documentary on Stubble Burning titled “Aak Chabna Paina”, during the 8th National Science Film Festival of India (NSFFI) Organised by Vigyan Prasar, Union ministry of Science and Technology, and the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism which was held at Gauhati University, Assam.

 This documentary “Aak Chabna Paina” was selected among 215 documentaries that were screened during the contest and was selected by the jury of eight members including Mike Pandey, who is a three- time Oscar winner.

Principal Dr. Rajesh Kumar congratulated both for their extraordinary performance and said there is no substitute to hard work. It is only due to their sincere hard work and dedication that they have been bestowed with this award. He also added that it is pride moment for the college that our students are mounting so high and achieving success in their life.

Prof Vikram Sharma, Head Department Computer Science and Information Technology congratulated them and said they both are extremely talented students and are all-rounder and also pride of our college and other students, should learn from their success.

While briefing about their documentary, Utsav Arora added that this was their third documentary film which is based on stubble burning by farmers that causes pollution in the states of Punjab, Haryana and Delhi. For this documentary, students has researched at the ground level, met farmers and recorded videos of burning farms. He added that around 70 percent farmers showed inclination for burning stubble as they thought it was the easiest way to the manage straw. The main motive behind this documentary was to suggest ideas to the government to curb the menace and for this he has sent copies of his documentary to the State and Centre’s Agricultural Department, the National Green Tribunal (NTG) and the Union Government.

He also told that this documentary has also bagged Special Jury Award in the NCERT National Audio Video Festival Which was held from 21st to 23rd February in Bhopal and this documentary was also officially selected in Rajasthan International Film Festival held on 12th January in Jaipur.  Prof Kapil Goel also congratulated both for their extra ordinary success.
