Amritsar, July 17 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Guru Nanak Dev University has always been known for maintaining robust Industry-Academia interface to impart learning about the latest and emerging technologies being used by the Industry as a part of academic curriculum taught to its students. It is in this context, Guru Dev Nanak University has signed a MoU with FUEL (Friends Union for Energizing Lives), a leading Non-Profit Organization working in collaboration with HDFC Bank for conducting job enhancement programmes for Engineering and Management students.
This MoU is aimed at providing Skills Training to students of GNDU and to enable them to better understand and enhance their job related skills. The MoU was signed by Guru Nanak Dev University and Mr. Ketan Deshpande CEO of FUEL Organization. After this MoU the company will provide Aptitude Training, Personality Development workshops and training in Soft Skills to GNDU students. The company will also provide mapping of students based on skill development, education, and entrepreneurship by conducting psychometric / skill tests and counselling.
Prof. (Dr.) Jaspal Singh Sandhu Vice Chancellor said that this partnership will be mutually beneficial between the two eminent organizations having complementary expertise. He further said that this collaboration is oriented towards bringing about qualitative improvements in job related skills of students. VC Prof. (Dr.) Sandhu further said that University students have performed exponentially great in placements and these kinds of training will further give a boost in selections of GNDU students in placements. Dr. Hardeep Singh, Dean Academic Affairs, Dr. K.S Kahlon Registrar & Dr. B.S Bajwa, Dr. Preet Mohinder Singh Bedi Dr. Amit Chopra were also present during the MoU signing ceremony.
Dr. Preet Mohinder Singh Bedi Director University Industry Linkage Cell said that Friends Union for Energizing Lives–FUEL, a credible non-profit organization which provides Career Guidance and Skill guidance to the students throughout India. FUEL has received the highly prestigious Ashoka Fellowship which is awarded to leading social entrepreneurs for their exemplary solutions to social issues.
Dr. Amit Chopra Placement Officer told that FUEL will also be providing placement assistance to the students. He added that the company has formed various groups on LinkedIn platform where students are regularly updated with different job opportunities and are also connected with the Human Resource team of different companies.
