Amritsar, October 8 ( Punjab Post Bureau) – Sri Guru Ram Das University of Health Sciences, Sri Amritsar in association with The Indian Radiological & Imaging Association (IRIA) organised 2 days “IRIA UTSAV RADIOLOGY SUMMIT – 2022” on 8th – 9th October 2022 at the University premises. It was the first National Conference under IRIA UTSAV on the theme “Fetal Imaging and Intervention Radiology”. On this occasion Dr. Hemant Patel, Ex- President IRIA was the Chief Guest and Dr. Amarnath C, immediate Ex-President IRIA, Dr. Umesh Krishnamurthy, President Elect IRIA and Dr. Deep N Srivastava, Prof & Head, AIIMS, New Delhi were the guests of honour.
Speaking about the current and future state of Radiology Dr. Hemant Patel impressed upon the fact that the field of Radiology is ever evolving and therefore it is important to be updated with the advances in this field in order to provide better diagnostic facilities to the patients. He further added that in addition to serving as platform for attendees to upskill, enhance their existing knowledge and share their latest research through posters, the conference highlighted the ongoing shift from volume to value-based radiology and healthcare models.
Dr. Amandeep Singh, Organizing Secretary and National Coordinator IRIA Utsav Committee, added that IRIA Utsav Committee is devoted to celebrating vast cultural heritage of the nation and showcasing the principle of “Unity in Diversity” through celebrations, Conferences and various unique programmes. He added that such platforms are essential to train the next generation of Radiologists. He said that renowned experts in the field of Radiology from all across India including AIIMS, New Delhi, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, Delhi, Stanley Medical College, Chennai, PGI Chandigarh, from Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Lucknow, Rajasthan, Mumbai and Aurangabad graced the conference with their presence.
Addressing on the occasion, Dr. AP Singh, Dean, SGRD University of Health Sciences, Sri Amritsar said that it was a matter of privilege for the University to be in the forefront in organising such skill enhancing academic events. He said the scientific deliberations focused on trending topics and advances in Fetal Imaging & Intervention Radiology. He said on this occasion various workshops were conducted included USG Guided In- Plane and Out-Plane Intervention, Venaseal, PICC Insertion, Fetal Echo Protocols and Targeted Anomaly Scans, where delegates were given hands on training by experts. He added that various advances in Fetal Imaging and Interventional Radiology were discussed with didactic lectures, live demonstrations, masterclasses, workshops and panel discussions. He said that the eminent faculty pan India imparted their valuable expertise and skills in the field to the delegates.
Dr. Arvinder Singh, Organizing Chairperson and Dr Gaurav Dhawan highlighted the importance of hands-on workshops conducted during the event. Nearly 400-500 delegates participated from all over India.
The Central IRIA office bearers also graced the occasion. Vice Chancellor, SGRD University of Health Sciences, Dr Daljit Singh, Director Principal Dr Manjit Singh Uppal and other dignitaries also gave the keynote address. Dr. Ashok Uppal, Member PMC observed the proceedings and the conference was credited with 8 PMC hours by the Punjab Medical Council.
