Amritsar, Feb. 25 (Punajb Post Bureau) – US based Eco Sikh President Dr.Rajwant Singh today visited Khalsa College Amritsar (KCA) and Khalsa College Public School (KCPS) to appeal the students to take an active part in the upcoming World Sikh environment day, to be celebrated world over on March 14. He addressed the students, highlighting the importance of the environment protection and cleanliness in the Sikh philosophy.At KCA he along with Khalsa College Governing Council (KCGC) finance secretary and EcoSikh Amritsar’s head Gunbir Singh, joint secretary Rajbir Singh and Principal Dr.Mehal Singh, asked the students to plant more trees, take out awareness rallies and vows to protect environment and enhance green cover in their areas. He said the educational institutions can play pivotal role in this cause. Later at KCPS, he was welcomed by Principal Dr.Sarvjit Kaur Brar and planted trees on the school campus. In his address here he said there was a dire need to conserve the fragile environment, which is facing degradation at an alarming rate. “It is duty of everyone, especially the youth to conserve our environment’’, said Dr.Rajwant Singh. Dr. Brar thanked Dr. Rajwant Singh for sensitizing the students on this crucial issue and encouraged the students to keep their environment neat, clean and green. Others present during the occasion included KCA Registrar, Dr. Davinder Singh, Eco Sikh’s Dr. Traundeep Singh and Ravneet Singh apart from large number of teachers and students.
