Amritsar, June 24 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Ms. Priyanshu Kachhap, an Archery player of BBK DAV College for Women, Amritsar brought laurels to the college as well as the University by winning Gold Medal in World University Championship held at Mongolia from June 01 – 05, 2016. Priyanshu, along with Jyoti Surekha form KL University Andhra Pradesh and Swati Dudhwal of Rajsthan University has made the country proud after India won against Russia by scoring 228 points out of 240, while Russia scored 220 points.
Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia said that BBK DAV College has always been a pioneer in the arena of sports and has won championships at national and international level. Expressing her pride and satisfaction in the achievement of Ms. Priyanshu Kachhap, Dr. Walia added that Ms. Kachhap had won gold medal in Sr. National held at Meerut during October 12-19, 2015 and also participated in Archery World Cup (Stage 3), held at Poland in August 2015 and World University Games, Gwangju (South Korea) July 2015. As a student of BBK DAV College since 2010, Ms. Kachhap has won numerous medals in National and Intervarsity Level Tournaments.
Principal Dr. Walia further emphasized that winning the World University Championship in Archery was a landmark achievement for BBK DAV College for Women. On this occasion, Hon’ble Dr. A.S. Brar, Vice-Chancellor, GNDU, along with Mr. H.S. Randhawa, Director (Sports) GNDU, Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia, and Mrs. Sweety Bala, Head, Department of Physical Education, BBK DAV College, felicitated and honoured Ms. Priyanshu Kachhap and her coach Mr. Balraj Singh Virk.
