1500 rooms sarai to be built at Sri Harmandar Sahib- Bibi Jagir Kaur

Resolution passed condemning remarks made by Dhadrianwale

Amritsar, October 19 (Punjab Post Bureau) – SGPC has decided to expand the sarais (inns) for the Sangat (community) that arrives to pay obeisance at Sri Harmandar Sahib.

During the SGPC executive committee meeting presided over by SGPC Bibi Jagir Kaur today, the construction of a new modern sarai having about 1,500 rooms has been approved. The new sarai would be constructed at the location of Hansli near Gheo Mandi Chowk on the way to Sri Darbar Sahib.

Talking to the press reporters after the meeting, Bibi Jagir Kaur said that the Kar Sewa (voluntary service) of the new sarai to be constructed for the pilgrims arriving at Sri Harmandar Sahib has been entrusted to Baba Kashmir Singh Bhuriwale and its construction will begin from November 1.

“A vehicle parking lot would be built on the ground floor of this five storied sarai building and a store would also be built here for storing the ration offered by the Sangat for Sri Guru Ramdas Ji Langar. Moreover, the old building of Sri Guru Ramdas School near Gurdwara Sri Ramsar Sahib would be maintained intact to its old structure and repaired”, said Bibi Jagir Kaur.

Bibi Jagir Kaur said that the SGPC EC has strongly condemned the “ridiculous remarks” made by pracharak (preacher) Bhai Ranjit Singh Dhadrianwale about the spiritual shrine Sri Harmandar Sahib.

“No preacher has the right to speak ill about the historical shrines of the Sikh community. The sentiments of the Sangat have been hurt by the remarks of Dhadrianwale linking Sri Harmandar Sahib with the incident at Singhu border. Sri Harmandar Sahib is a common place where people of all faiths visit with devotion. It is not good to instill fear in the Sangat towards this holy place. Bhai Ranjit Singh should not hurt the faith under the guise of Sikh preaching and should not ignore the historical significance of the holy places”, said Bibi Jagir Kaur.

Meanwhile, Bibi Jagir Kaur also condemned the incident at Singhu border and demanded an impartial inquiry. She condemned the incident at Lakhimpur Kheri and pledged to stand with the families of the victims farmer
