Workshop on “Drug Discovery Design and Development” at KCP

Amritsar, October 9 (Punjab Post Breau) – The three day workshop on “Drug Discovery Design and Development” was organized at Khalsa College of Pharmacy (KCP) in collaboration with Zonal Championship and Shastra, IIT Madras Event. The resource person Jitesh Doshi, a world renowned expert on computational Bioinformatics from Mumbai stressed on various aspects of drug discovery based on advanced cheminformatics softwares. 

           He highlighted the techniques related to computer added drug design and molecular docking and an online test of students was also conducted and five students were selected as winners who will represent the College in the Final round of a competition “Shastra Zonal Championship” to be held at IIT Madras, said Director-Principal Dr. RK Dhawan. He congratulated the winners and emphasized the need and importance of computer aided drug design in pharmaceutical research. 

He stated that events like these will continue to be organized by College for apprising the students about the latest in the field.
