GNDU organized Professional Development Programme for Non-Academic Staff

Amritsar, October 4 (Punjab Post Bureau) – A two-days “Professional Development Programme for Non-Academic Staff” was organized in the UGC-Human Resource Development Centre of the Guru Nanak Dev University. As many as 32 non-teaching staff members of various cadres from the different administrative branches and teaching departments of the University participated.

            In the inaugural session, Prof. T.S. Banipal, Director Research of the University was the chief guest. Prof. S.S. Dhillon, Registrar and the coordinator of this Programme apprised the participants with the thrust area of the course. Dr. Rajesh Kalia, Deputy Registrar (General) and the Deputy Coordinator of the Programme introduced the Chief Guest to the audience. Prof. Amarjit Singh Sidhu, Director, HRDC of the University welcomed the dignitaries as well as the participants.

            Prof. Banipal exhorted the participants to maintain their attitude and aptitude in a befitting way and should have a strong will to learn. The juniors must interact with their senior colleagues from time to time to improve their working skills. He counselled the non-teaching staff to deal with the public in a cordial manner, so that the people who come to the University for their work should feel more comfortable.

Prof. S.S. Dhillon emphasized on the increasing role of working in unison for the betterment of all the stakeholders of the university i.e. students, teachers as well as the administrative staff in order to bring more laurels to the university. Dr. Rajesh Kalia said that such Programmes should be conducted regularly to familiarize the administrative staff with the latest technological developments and techniques which may be very useful for them in their working. Earlier Prof. Amarjit Singh Sidhu welcomed the dignitaries as well as the participants. Prof. Sidhu mentioned that though the HRDCs are primarily meant for conducting Orientation Programmes, Refresher Courses for the teachers of higher education, we also conduct courses for the administrative staff, from time to time. On the concluding function, Prof. N.S. Tung, Dean, Academic Affairs of the University presided over. Prof. Tung interacted with the participants and said that the non-teaching staff of our University is the third pillar of our system. He further added that the achievements which the University has made in the various fields had not been possible without the commitment and hard work of this third pillar.

Prof. S.S. Dhillon, Registrar and the Coordinator of this Course welcomed the Chief Guest and others. He said that in the present times, the work force is recognized as human capital as the machies are the physical capital. Prof. A.S. Sidhu, Director of the UGC-HRDC proposed the vote of thanks and said that this Short Term Course will go a long way to motivate the participants that there is no age limit to learn. Dr. Rajesh Kalia coordinated the stage. The participants of the Course profusely thanked the organizers for their brilliant endeavour and also made a few valuable suggestions. In the end certificates were distributed to the successful participants.
