Amritsar, April 1 (Punjab Post Bureau) –  Under the project “The Unreserved’ a 17- DAY train journey was undertaken by three youngsters traversing the four ends of the country which turned out to be a collection of many stories from India. They returned to Mumbai with a new- found insight into various aspects across India.

Samrath Mahajan and his two colleagues Omkar Divekar & Rajat Bhargava, working together for a media production house Camera & Shots, discussed the idea of travelling in the general compartment of the Indian Railways across the country under this project. Sharing their experience, they said that on some long distanced train journeys people travel in general compartment in subhuman conditions. These included a senior citizen speaking about the partition, another who spoke about not sleeping in the compartment & a woman talking about her alcoholic husband etc.

Rajan Bhargava, the youngest member of the group, said that their journey shattered many of the perceptions about India and its people. Divekar added that the moment they returned they felt a transformation in their ideology regarding India. He added that it was heartwarming to see that people didn’t fight but were willing to discuss with different views without much fuss during their journey.

The three have planned to collate their experience as a book or a website with intricate details of their journey. The emerging production house (Camera & Shots) has been awarded Best Cinematography Award & was an official nominee in BFI- Film Festival. This production house aims at producing non- fictional documentaries to explore and highlight cultural worth of India.
