BBK DAV organizes Vedic Workshop-cum-Lecture Series

Amritsar, April 1 (Punjab Post Bureau)- A Two Days Vedic Workshop-cum-Lecture Series was organized by Swami Dayanand Study Centre of BBK DAV College for Women, Amritsar. Dr. S. K.  Sharma, Director Publication, DAV CMC, New Delhi & Secretary, Arya Pradeshik Pratinidhi Sabha  was the chief guest for the second day.

Welcoming the guests, Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia said that Arya Samaj is not a religion but a way of life and this programme is a tribute to Swami Dayanand’s efforts towards a better society. She added that Swami ji was a legendary figure who changed the social map of our country.

In the inaugural address, Dr. S.K. Sharma said that DAV organizations have contributed tremendously to women education. He emphasized the importance of developing a scientific temper and said that we can establish a stable society with a clear vision. In his keynote address, Dr. Virendra  Vidyalankar, Head, Dayanand Chair for Vedic Studies, Punjab University, Chandigarh spoke about the teachings of Swami ji. He said that we cannot blame God for our wrong deeds. He added that Yajna is a way to ensure internal purity & global welfare. He further mentioned that the actual meaning of Arya is being progressive in nature; so anyone amongst us can become Arya. Dr. Roop Chandra Deepak, Former Joint Secretary, UP Secretariat, in his presidential address laid emphasis on the importance of hard work in our daily life to get good results. He also focused on the significance of determination & dedication in achieving success in life.

In the valedictory session, Dr. Harmohinder Singh Bedi, a renowned author, writer and poet said that Swami Dayanand played a vital role in making Punjab aware of its heritage. Dr. Sudha Jitendra, Head of Hindi Department, GNDU, said that DAV organizations are working relentlessly towards fulfilling Swami Ji’s dream of a disciplined & civilized society. In his valedictory address, Swami Surya Dev stressed upon instilling strong moral values into the children. Mr. J.K. Luthra, Honorary Treasurer, DAV College Managing Committee, New Delhi, gave a vote of thanks to the dignitaries present on the occasion. Mr. Sudershan Kapoor, Chairman,LMC, Dr. V.P. Lakhanpal, Col. Ved Mitra, Sh. O.P. Aggarwal and faculty members, also attended the programme.
