Amritsar. Jan 6 (Punjab Post Bureau)- Indira Gandhi National Model United Nations – 2015 conference was held at Lovely Professional University recently. The conference was graced by Sheila Dixit, the former Chief Minister , Delhi and the former Chief Minister of Punjab alongwith many other eminent guests. The conference, which had open participation, was attended by as many as 1000 delegates from all over India. Two students from DAV Public School, Lawrence Road participated in this conference and created a niche for themselves.
Shashank Mehra of Std. X was a member in a committee ‘Commission on Status of Women’ where he discussed ways to stop gender violence and won the High Commendation Award. Another student, Ribhav Kundra of Std XI was a member of a committee’ United Nations Office on Drug and Crime’. He debated on the menace of drugs and crime related to it and won the Special Mention Award.
Both the students were highly applauded for their confidence, knowledge about the subject and impressive oratory skills. Regional Director, Amritsar Zone Dr. (Mrs.) Neelam Kamra and the Manager of the school, Dr. Rajesh Kumar congratulated the students for their performance. Dr. Neera Sharma, Principal of the school applauded their efforts and said that she was happy to see her students shine at a National platform. She added that such opportunities help students to know their potential and guide them in their future endeavours.
