Two Day Capacity Building Programme for Teachers held at DAV Public School

Amritsar, Feb 29 (Punjab Post Bureau)- Under the aegis of DAV CAE, Regional Training Centre (Amritsar Zone), DAV CMC, New Delhi, a two day Capacity Building Programme for Teachers teaching English, Maths and Science to Std III to Std V, and Social Sciences, Maths and Science to Std IX and X was held at DAV Public School, Lawrence Road, Amritsar on 26^th and 27^th Feb,2016. The workshops were inaugurated by the Regional Director, Punjab Zone A, Dr.(Mrs.) Neelam Kamra. While addressing the participants, she said that the objective of these workshops was to bring a qualitative improvement in the teaching – learning process with the aim of enhancing learner achievement. She added that being educators, we must always upgrade ourselves to deal with changing trends in education. She interacted with the teachers and enthused in them the desire to learn and perform.

The Resource persons for Social Science workshop (Std IX&X) were: Dr Mr. Abhishek, from Hindu College, Mrs Anjana Gautam, from Police DAV Public School, Mrs Inderjit Sandhu and Mrs Gagan Bhatia from DAV Public School, Amritsar; for Science(Std IX&X) Mrs Harpreet Kaur Chhatwal from Sri Guru Harkrishan Senior Secondary School GT Road, Amritsar, S. Amarjit Singh, Principal Sri Guru Harkrishan School, Patti, Dr Atul Khanna from Guru Nanak Dev University and Mr Vikas Khanna from DAV Public School, Amritsar; For Maths, Mr Pawan Khurana, Mrs Uma Chopra and Mrs Rama Kumari from DAV Public School, Amritsar; For English (Std III-V) Mrs Priyanka Arora, Mrs Rashmi Sharma and Mrs Hardeep Kaur from DAV Public School, Amritsar; For Science(Std III-V), Mrs Anuradha Sharma and Mrs Manpreet Bhatia from DAV Public School, Amritsar; For Maths (III-V), Mrs Nisha Tuteja, Mrs Bharti Juneja and Mrs Raman Dhawan, from DAV Public School, Amritsar. 93 teachers from 5 schools, DAV International School, Amritsar, Police DAV Public School, Amritsar, GND DAV School, Bhikhiwind, MKD DAV School, Attari and DAV Public School, Lawrence Road, Amritsar under Amritsar Zone, participated in the workshop. The workshops were interactive and fruitful. The resource persons stressed upon the use of power point presentations, activities, interactive sessions and use of other visual medium for better understanding and learning.

Many activities were performed during the workshop which the teachers can use in their class to encourage the students and motivate them to enhance their skills. They distributed handouts and other worksheets which the teachers can use in their class and also touched the intricacies of lesson planning. In the end the queries of the teachers were taken up. The workshops were a huge success as many new techniques were discussed. Dr. Neera Sharma, Principal DAV Public School thanked the Chief Guest and all the participants for joining the workshop. She said that knowledge is added by sharing and workshops and seminars are a right platform to learn from each other. She gave her best wishes to everyone for the success of the workshop.
