Deputy Commissioner lauds the contribution of institute for the betterment of blinds, hands over cheque of Rs. 5 lakh
Amritsar, Jan 4 (Punjab Post Bureau)- The District Administration today launched a three months basic computer course for the blinds and visually impaired here in the premises of the Institute for The Blinds.
While celebrating the 207th birth anniversary of Louis Braille in association with the management of Institute for The Blind, the administration also announced fulsome support and cooperation to the institute (Andh Vidyalaya) for the welfare and betterment of inmates.
After opening the Computer Course under Skill Development Initiative of State, Deputy Commissioner Mr. Ravi Bhagat said that it was an attempt to impart practical knowledge and training about computers to inmates of the institute. He said that this course will provide a platform to inmates to get the basics of computers.
Mr. Bhagat also announced that district administration will extend fulsome support and cooperation to the center for welfare and betterment of blinds and visually impaired. He said that nothing could have been a better tribute to the inventor of script for Blind, Louis Braille, then to make an effort to propagate the skill and endowed capabilities of the visually challenged. He also gave a call to people to come forward for the welfare and betterment of blinds and visually impaired.
Meanwhile, Mr. Bhagat also handed over a cheque of Rs. 5 lakh to the management for the development of institute. Prominent amongst those present on the occasion included President Mr. Ashok Sethi, General Secretary Mr. Arun Kapoor, Mr. Anil Singhal, Mr. Avinash Mahendru both members, Principal Mr. Manjit Singh.
The inmates of the institute also presented an impressive cultural program. It is pertinent here that the institute had been looking after more than 55 blind inmates besides providing them education etc.
