BBK DAV organizes an interactive session with eminent Punjabi Poet Surjit Patar

Amritsar, Feb. 13 (Punjab Post Bureau) – In an event organized by the Department of Punjabi of BBK DAV College for Women, renowned Punjabi Poet Surjit Patar interacted with the students and shared his views about Punjabi Literature and society.

Known for his beautiful poetic verses, the eminent poet shared his thoughts, and inspiration & recited his famous poem like Jung, Shabd kosh de boohe te and Mar rahi hai meri bhasha shabd shabd. He further added that his poetry is a reflection of truth and a blend of wisdom and imagination. “Poetry is above all differences and offers an equal platform to all”, he said.

Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia welcomed the illustrious poet and said that a poet is like a mirror to the society. She acknowledged the remarkable contribution made by Mr. Surjit Patar to Punjabi Literature. Applauding the efforts of PG Department of Punjabi, she added that an interaction with a poet like him is an enlightening and enriching experience for all.

Mr. Sudershan Kapoor, Chairman, Local DAV Managing Committee thanked the esteemed guest for visiting the college. He signified the importance of mother tongue and guided the students to remain attached to their roots and culture.

Dr. Rupinder Kaur, Head of PG Department of Punjabi, said that Patar’s poetry is a blend of love, affection, silence & tragedy. All faculty members of the department as well as other staff members, along with a large number of student, participated in the interactive the session. Also on the occasion, Mr. Lalit Gopal of Department of Bachelor of Design was honored for receiving State Award conferred by Lalit Kala Academy, Lucknow.
